In-store operations management

Basic advantages:

  • automation and acceleration of carrying out sales processes – increase in capacity, increase in Customer satisfaction,
  • independent sales systems – increase in Customer loyalty,
  • up-to-date information about the quantity of given goods – better availability of goods on the shelf, increasing sale,
  • up-to-date information about the offer of the competition – capability to successfully fight for Customer,
  • easy access to information about the product – increase in Customer satisfaction, compliance with legal regulations.

The term “in-store” covers all processes taking place in a sales hall in sales networks – retail and wholesale. The aim of the systems for managing these processes is aiding the activities carried out by shop employees and making it easier for Customers to do the shopping.

We support the handling of in-store processes by means of a range of solutions enabling the increase in effectiveness of individual processes in retail and wholesale outlets. Our solutions operate based on mobile computers and automatic identification technologies. This enables access to information in real time, at any location of retail outlet. These solutions guarantee significant acceleration of carrying out processes and virtually eliminate errors (e.g. incorrect name or incorrect code of goods, ultimately reducing the number of defects).

  • automation of POS (point-of-sale),
  • control and verification of prices, access to additional information (e.g. name, description of an article, information about the manufacturer, special offers),
  • PSS (Portable Shopping System),
  • stocktaking in the entire store, in selected areas (section, shelf) or of one group/category of the range of products,
  • verification of the correctness of the marking of an article, control of current price, name, additional printing of labels by a shelf using portable printer,
  • registration of shortages of products, generating information about the necessity of supplying goods from a warehouse or – in case of shortage in a warehouse – about the necessity of ordering,
  • registration of sales data (e.g. value of turnover on goods on a given day, margin, number of articles sold in a period),
  • gathering information about the offer of the competition (registration of prices, special offers),
  • queue busting,
  • quick and efficient stocktaking in a warehouse located by the store.

The scale of in-store systems depends on the size of retail outlet and processes carried out there. In convenience store, sufficient solution is a bar code reader working with a cash register (POS) and price checking devices. In hypermarket networks, where the number of transactions in Points of Sale is higher, the benefits of implementing IT platform increase. A system aiding the operation of mobile terminals, used by both the staff in a sales hall and the managers, facilitates the increase in the effectiveness of a store (stocking up shelves, current prices) and helps to shorten logistic processes within the goods acceptance zone. The scope and functionality of solutions are always based on accurate analysis of customer requirements.

IT devices and systems designed for retail sector are only tools that aid the completion of certain processes. Usually, they do not operate independently, but in combination with such systems as: cash register systems, warehouse systems or other systems used for managing retail outlets. Such systems enable effective management of a store (sales hall) in such areas as: supply, marketing, price policy.

Logistics and warehousing

The comprehensive system for warehouse management (WMS) controls warehouse processes from the moment the goods are received (logistic unit, raw material, product), during the whole time the goods are stored in a warehouse, up to the moment they are issued.

Basic advantages:

  • minimization of mistakes in performing logistic processes – reducing costs of providing services, better availability of goods, improving the quality of customer service,
  • integrity of materials and information flow – compliance with the GS1 system (EAN/UCC) enables tracing goods in the entire supply chain,
  • accurate representation of resources in real time – possibility of optimization and effective planning of production,
  • advanced optimization and reporting mechanisms – reducing logistic costs and minimization of stock held,
  • better processing and prompt provision of services – improving the quality of logistic services, increasing competitiveness,
  • mechanism of optimization and planning picking routes – shorter time of picking,
  • service of different customers in many storage models – flexibility of operation, comprehensiveness of services.

Our WMS solutions are characterized by flexibility – they can be adapted to the needs of Customer, and can work with mobile computers operating based on automatic identification technologies, such as bar codes or RFiD. The use of this technology, as an integral part of WMS systems, enables real-time data registration and processing and performance of warehouse operations at any location.

Basic tasks performed by warehouse systems are typical logistic operations, such as receipt, issuance, or stocktaking. Apart from these functions, there are processes in certain branches that would be difficult to carry out effectively without warehouse system.

Wholesale distribution and retail sector

  • picking,
  • cross-docking,
  • reverse logistics,
  • returnable packaging management,
  • optimization of processes and use of warehouse space,
  • tracking products in supply chain (track&trace).

One of advantages of our solution is its flexibility and scalability. It can be adapted to the requirements of any company, regardless of branch, size or type of processes performed – distribution centers with any number of storage zones, using any number of product groups (important in the case of huge diversity of the range of products), warehouses located by shops.

Our solutions have built-in, advanced reporting mechanisms, and enable effective storage and archiving of information about all tasks performed linked with specific logistic units. The data provided enables tracing the warehouse inventory in real time, and makes it easier for the managers to take decisions. Extended reports also enable tracing the origin of products in the entire production and logistic process.

WMS systems also offer advanced optimization methods, relating to both the use of warehouse space (optimization of storage of goods) and the performance of processes. An example of such support is optimization of routes during preparing deliveries, ABC analysis improving flows in a warehouse, controlling the flow of products according to the principle FIFO, LIFO or FEFO (First Expired First Out).

The WMS system can be used independently to manage warehouse processes, however in order to fully use its capabilities it must work with external systems used in an enterprise, e.g.:

  • ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning),
  • TMS (Transport Management System),
  • MES (Manufacturing Execution System).

This combination gives a user a comprehensive IT solution for enterprise management. The WMS systems implemented by our company are much more flexible and customizable than similar logistic modules that are part of ERP systems. As opposed to them, they are focused more on real-time management of the flow of materials than on transaction processes – the main functionality of ERP systems. The possibility of changing and developing the system along with the development of a company guarantees continuity of operation and optimization of costs of investing into IT.

Field force automation

Basic advantages:

  • quick return on investment and sales increase,
  • real-time access to warehouse inventory, settlements with customers, etc.,
  • shortening the time needed for customer service,
  • optimization of time and costs of traveling to Customer,
  • control of working time,
  • reporting mechanisms, geomarketing,
  • mobile office,
  • complete integration with the corporate IT system.

The increase in the productivity of sales department can be achieved in many ways, however – as marketing research shows – the fastest and long-term result is ensured by sale through sales representatives aided by mobile IT solutions. Here, the key to success is knowledge of warehouse inventory, precision in task assignment and fuller control in their fulfillment, all of which is ensured by synchronizing task results into IT systems in a company.

Our system designed for field work management consists of server and mobile parts. The synchronization of data between field workers’ terminals and communication server is based on an optimized protocol, which works well with low bandwidth connections, such as GPRS. This protocol allows sales representatives to get access to current information about warehouse inventory, special offers etc.

The solution can support any number of variants of special offers and loyalty programs. It is possible to create any report on a mobile device based on the data entered into the system during workday.

The platform on the basis of which the system was built is configurable according to Customer’s requirements and can be integrated with any external IT environment. Such approach ensures reliability, flexibility and guarantee of complete customization.
