Konshurt

About Konshurt Sp. z o. o.

KONSHURT is a manufacturer and distributor operating in the food industry. The company has been operating on the market for 30 years. It specializes in providing customers with products with an extended shelf life, such as canned poultry, meat and fish. The company is a leader on the Polish market in its category.

Modern central warehouse is located in Częstochowa. In addition, the company has two branches – in Koszalin and in Jarosław. For efficient customer service, Konshurt uses its own specialized transport fleet and cooperation with forwarding companies.

KONSHURT in numbers:
  • the company has acquired over 1,500 recipients so far,
  • sells about 500,000 items every day pieces of all kinds of canned products,
  • distributes brands of over 20 companies throughout Poland,
  • there are almost 180 indices that KONSHURT is the owner of or has exclusive rights to distribute in Poland,
  • has been on the market for 20 years with its own brand “MK”, and for 4 years – with the brand “MK ANIMALS”,
  • extension of the central warehouse in Częstochowa increased the warehouse space by another 5,000 sq m (in total, it is already about 9,000 sq m with 13 reloading ramps, plus two reloading stations from the ground level).

As assumed, work ergonomics improved, the number of errors decreased, and warehouse processes were optimised. The pick-by-voice technology has also contributed to speeding up the collection and dispensing stages, as well as increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of picking.

Objectives and challenges:
  • improvement and automation of logistics processes in KONSHURT – with particular emphasis on warehouse services,
  • improving the organization of warehouse space,
  • integration with ERP system,
  • improvement of efficiency and effectiveness as well as reduction of errors in the picking process through the use of pick-by-voice technology,
  • increased work comfort.
Challenges:

The diversity of the assortment is a huge challenge. The variety of KONSHURT offer is evidenced by the fact that a large number of various types of products are sold daily, which means the need to handle many orders of this type.

Another challenge is the release process, especially the pallet building phase, as hard and heavy goods must be placed on the bottom layer of the pallet and light, fragile and irregularly shaped goods on top.

In order to meet these challenges, solutions proposed by a team of IBCS Poland experts were implemented – IBCS Poland own solutions: ibcsTiger WMS system and ibcsVoice voice system.

WMS ibcsTiger in KONSHURT

The implementation of technological solutions proposed by the IBCS Poland team was divided into three main stages of implementation:

  • analysis of KONSHURT’ expectations and system design along with its extension with a voice solution,
  • execution according to the developed system design; This range has been divided into phases:
    • installation of the basic version,
    • implementation (voice system, Honeywell Voice system installation, software modifications),
    • implementation of the interface,
    • implementation and launch (training, assistance during production launch and software stabilization),
    • maintaining the correct operation of the system and switching to service care mode.
Automation of logistics processes

ibcsTiger WMS is connected via an interface with an external ERP system, with which it cooperates and exchanges messages on-line (i.e. in real time). To manage the work of the warehouse, it uses mobile terminals and label printers. An office user can use the www panel here.

  • Receipts of goods to the warehouse – are planned (based on orders from the ERP system) or unplanned.
  • Internal transfers – the system proposes a place to store the goods, but the warehouse worker has the option of putting them to another place in the warehouse. Internal transfers allow you to change the location of goods and carriers in the warehouse without changing its general condition.
  • Goods release – more than one collection may be created for each single picking order (depending on the established division criteria related to the zone (goods location) and/or order size. Picking is carried out using Talkman voice terminals (pick-by- voices).
  • Warehouse management – storage is carried out with the division of the warehouse into zones, serving various groups of goods. For each assortment, the system designates dedicated collection points and replenishes them according to the agreed minimum stock.
Application of GS1 standard for warehouse processes

During the implementation, a way of labeling goods was designed in accordance with the GS1 standard, which allowed for tracking each pallet of goods, along with its batch. GS1 labels containing the SSCC code are generated during the receipt of goods and the system uses them in every process carried out in the warehouse, i.e. putting away, transfers, picking, etc. : 02, 37, 10, etc.) Thanks to which we can track the flow of goods in the warehouse along with its attributes. Logistic labels are used for shipments of homogeneous pallets, especially to contractors (including retail chains) that require pallet marking using this standard, as well as have a specific template of such a label. In the case of deliveries to Biedronka chain, a label is used in accordance with the requirements of this network and containing, in addition to the SSCC number, also AI: 02, 37, 10, 17 (15)

Complexity of activities in a modern edition

The use of the solutions described here allowed KONSHURT to manage its warehouse space in real time, and the operation of the warehouse itself was optimized. Full control of all processes is carried out – from the moment of receiving the goods to their loading onto the means of transport. As a result, the comfort of work has improved – as have the quality of activities and the safety of the employees themselves.

When we look at the current logistics service for our entire company, we can see that the implementation of the solutions proposed by IBCS Poland has brought significant time savings. As assumed, work ergonomics improved, the number of errors decreased, and warehouse processes were optimised. Pick-by-voice technology also contributed to the acceleration of the collection and release of goods, as well as to the increase in efficiency and effectiveness of pickingemphasizes Mr. Łukasz Szecówka from KONSHURT.
